A Prayer Request for Chuck and Heaven

Uncle Charles-
Mark and I have a friend named Charles. He went to Towson with us. Chuck’s dad died in the same manner as Daddy…just a few months after (I believe it was August 2005). Chuck’s parents had divorced much earlier and his father had remarried. That union produced Chuck’s little sister, Heaven. Heaven was 5 when her daddy died. Three months later (to the day), Heaven’s mother was killed in a car accident. Chuck (who is single with no kids), decided to raise his sister. He was granted temporary custody. This has been such a difficult process as Heaven’s mother had (I believe 4 other children – ) and the kids were split up. I think the 5 kids had 3 different dads so it was complicated. Chuck bought a new house and has basically created a wonderful life for him and Heaven. He often picks up the other kids on the weekends and has tried to keep them close. The problem is that Heaven’s mom’s aunt has been fighting him for custody….This has been a very intense (and not so nice) struggle…There have been several court dates and neither have been granted custody yet. The last court date was yesterday…The aunt has requested that Chuck take a DNA test to prove that he and Heaven are are siblings…Talk about a blow to the stomach….The judge granted the request and the next court date is in April. Despite all of this, Heaven is a happy and well adjusted little girl…much to the credit of her brother (she affectionally calls him “Boots”…)
So I’m asking that we pool all of our prayer resources and ask the Lord to continue to comfort Chuck and Heaven…to not allow ungodly motives stand in the way of what’s best for this little girl.
