I Give Fair Compensation for Value Received.
Prosperity’s 8th Affirmation

Operative Faculties – Will, Life, Love

Prosperity Commandment –
You shall not seek something for nothing.

Mosaic Commandment –
Exodus 20:15 “You shall not steal”.

Commentary
What is stealing to you? Is it merely to take something without permission?  Or is stealing the acquisition of anything without just compensation to the owner?  In this information age, where we value ideas and processes as much as solid manufactured products, we are faced with questions of ownership and just compensation for intellectual property. For example who owns a song, a poem, a computer program or a course of instruction?  How should the owner be compensated? 

My purpose for posing these questions is for you to consider areas in your life where you may be breaking the spirit of the commandment not to steal. For our working definition let’s agree that stealing can be simply defined as getting something for nothing.  The Law of Compensation implies that one cannot get something for nothing.  At some point every account must be balanced. In other words you cannot give without receiving and you cannot receive without giving. Therefore to be in concert with the law, you are obedient to prosperity’s 8th Commandment, “You shall not seek something for nothing”. 

To live according to this commandment we affirm with our words and actions, “I give fair compensation for value received”.  We intend to give fairly and generously for value received.

What is your thought about gatherings or offerings where a ‘Love Offering’ is requested?  Is it an opportunity to get something for nothing, a time in which you can give a little and get a lot? Or is it a time when you can express your appreciation by giving a part of your material substance for value received?  When we willingly and generously give, we are aligning ourselves with God’s Grace, which freely gives.  We invoke our power of Will by choosing to return to Life the measure of what we are receiving. We can always choose to give Love in any situation in which we find ourselves.  We are open and receptive to the free flow of Life to and through us.

Consider providing a product or service and accepting a ‘Love Offering’ as compensation. Be very mindful of how much to give the next time you are deciding how much to give when asked for a ‘Love Offering’. Choose one or more of the following processes from Ask and It Is Given:

Operative Faculties – Imagination
Prosperity Commandment –
You shall not abase your wealth to idle or evil uses.
Mosaic Commandment –
Exodus 20:14 “You shall not commit adultery”.

Commentary
This affirmation helps us to keep our motives and uses for money pure and unadulterated.  We remind ourselves that money is Love in action and we focus on the positive uses for our money.  Just as we keep our thoughts pure, 1 Philippians 4:8  “Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things”; we also keep the use of our money pure.  We can begin to live this truth by substituting the use of money for thinking 1 Philippians 4:8. We only use our money for things that are true, honorable, just, pure lovely and of good report. Of course if our thoughts are focused in this manner everything we do, including the use of our money will be so aligned.  However, sometimes when we are not so aligned, we can review the use of our money after the fact and determine if we are putting it to adulterous uses.

Prosperity’s 6th Affirmation

Operative Faculties – Life, Love
Prosperity Commandment –
You shall not take your wealth out of circulation.
Mosaic Commandment –
Exodus 20:13 “You shall not murder”.
Commentary
The commandment, “You shall not murder” obviously applies to the taking of human life. However, it is sometimes stated as “You shall not kill” and some apply that to the killing of animals for sport or even food.  Each person must discern the Truth of the commandment for herself or himself depending on where she or he is in consciousness. 

For the purpose of this discussion, we shall consider how we may kill or inhibit the flow of prosperity into our lives.  Habitual thoughts of poverty, lack and limitation are murderers of prosperity and our experience of abundance. Our intent is to create and align with thoughts of increase and plenty.  This includes the removal of blockages to the outflow and inflow of wealth. Stagnation can not support life. Hence Biblical references to the Dead Sea represent stagnation and the resulting death that comes from a consciousness that is focused on receiving without thought to giving. 

We need the experience of unimpeded circulation to enjoy the fullness of life.  Some people describe the spiritual approach to money as seeing their use of money as God in action.  Since God is Love we could just as accurately say that when we approach the use of our money as Love in action, we have a template for the spiritual use of money as being the free flow of love, using money as the symbol or outer expression of our Love.  However, we must not try to use money as a substitute for love. We love first and then send our money as part of our expression of love. We circulate our wealth with the intention of blessing others and ourselves.

Operative Faculties – Love, Wisdom
Prosperity Commandment –
You shall deal honorably with God and with all human instruments through whom God’s good is manifested for you.
Mosaic Commandment –
Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you”.
Commentary
Perhaps this affirmation should be “I am honorable with God and with people”.  As we discussed earlier, you are best served by creating an affirmation that contains the essential Truth of the commandment and has the greatest impact on you. I believe that we should be honorable with all people, not just for what they could potentially do for us but because it is the ‘right’ thing to do and we are honorable people.  Everyone with whom we interact blesses us in some way, if we are open and receptive to the blessing. However, in the context of the 5th Affirmation of Prosperity, we focus on the people who assist in the flow of our wealth.  Who are the people who assist in the flow of wealth to you? These are people who inspire you to greater success. They could be teachers, writers, speakers, and friends and especially family (Honor your father and your mother…).  They could also be employers, supervisors, financial advisors, pay clerks or bank tellers. Potentially anyone with whom you interact has the potential of being one of the human instruments through whom God’s good is manifested for you. In the practice of this affirmation we need to internalize how to deal honorably with God and with other human beings.  To deal honorably with someone is to be honest with him or her, to be courteous, to be cooperative and to obey the terms of your relationship.  We probably already enjoy some success in honoring other human beings. We may, however, have more opportunity to honor God in a greater way. How can you be more cooperative with God? What does it mean to you to be more obedient to God? Are you being totally honest with God? There is one practice that efficiently demonstrates your faith in God and expresses your gratitude to God and contributes to God’s influence in the material world.  That practice is tithing, the giving of one tenth of all blessings that come to you to the channel through which you are spiritually nourished.
